Here is your mother

In honor of and in remembrance of State violence that is responsible for

  • The enslavement of Black people
  • The slaughter and disruption of indigenous families
  • The lynching of Black World War 1 Veterans and so many others
  • The dislocation of families from their land
  • The killing of Black people in the name of safety
  • And the death of a radical First century Jew named Jesus.

Were you there 2000 years ago, when Mary stood
When Mary – the mother of Jesus – stood
There – at the foot of the cross
When she stood there at the foot of the cross and watched
And KEPT watch
