Here are a few of the courses I’ve developed and taught over the past 5 years. More will be added as we go. I’m happy for you to use these, but please let me know. Also make sure to give credit to the many authors listed in the materials. I’ve not invented anything new, but am trying to put their work in a congregational context. Thanks for visiting!
Political Strategies of Jesus – This eight week Sunday morning study (1 hour/week) was a deep dive into the revolutionary ways Jesus “organized” for change in his community. Using Obery M. Hendricks’ book The Politics of Jesus as the foundation, the class explored who Jesus was from the perspective of today’s context.
The Meaning of Mary Magdalene – Using Karen King’s work and Cynthia Bourgeault’s book, The Meaning of Mary Magdalene, this three week study (mid-week Bible Study, 1.5-2 hours) looked at Mary through the lenses of ancient writings, the early church and our current context.
Reading the Bible from the Underside – A multi-week course including 1 hour adult forums on Sundays with additional “going deeper” opportunities at the mid-week Bible Study time (1.5-2 hours)
