Habakkuk, Justice and Me

So I wrote a little something for Interpretation Journal. I am posting the link below.  I hope you’ll give it a look.  It was almost as hard to write as giving birth to my firstborn.

Habakkuk comes before God with urgent fears for the innocent collateral damage that is sure to follow a Chaldean invasion, and God says: “Let me check my appointment book. Oh yes, I see. Yes. There is an opening coming soon.  I’ll let you know.”

In the midst of a season of heightened awareness of injustice and a strong sense of call to do something about it, I am finding Habakkuk a good traveling partner.  If you have a chance please read: Between Text and Sermon: Habakkuk 1:2-4, 12-17 and 2:1-4
